LA FORTUNA WATERFALL ELOPEMENT · REAL ELOPEMENT
Two women chose La Fortuna Waterfall in Costa Rica for their La Fortuna waterfall elopement. It was simple: they exchanged vows with the sound of the falls around them, then spent the rest of the time in the river and on the paths nearby. Below is the story, what we noticed about the place and a few practical notes.

La Fortuna waterfall elopement details at a glance

A waterfall as the ceremony space
A waterfall elopement that was simple, close and a little wet.
La Fortuna Waterfall sits in the Arenal Volcano National Park area, in a biological reserve. Its official site describes a path through native forest to the falls, which drop about 70 meters, and says visitors can swim in the river in front of them.
That river is where much of this elopement happened. The water is green, the forest is close and the spray reaches everything.
Vows with the roar of the falls
The elopement was simple. With the roar of the waterfall behind them, the two exchanged their vows and promised to stand by each other through whatever comes next.
We photographed what happened between them: how close they stood and how they moved through the water together.

Bouquets, white outfits and comfortable shoes
Both wore white: one a lace gown, the other a suit. They carried bouquets of tropical flowers, and they wore comfortable shoes on the stone steps. The official site lists about 530 steps on the way to the falls, so shoes are a real decision here.

Quiet minutes by the water
After the vows there was time to slow down: standing hand in hand by the water, one helping the other onto a rock, and a portrait of one of them alone in her lace gown with the forest behind her.
We finished in a garden along the path, among tropical plants with red leaves.
