SUEÑO DEL MAR WEDDING · REAL CELEBRATION

Jennifer and Todd had their Sueño del Mar wedding in Tamarindo, Guanacaste: a ceremony on the sand with the sea behind the arch, a rust-colored suit, a sky that turned orange, pink and purple, and a night of music and dancing. Below is how the day looked through our photographs.

Sueño del Mar, a quiet setting on the Tamarindo coast

Sueño del Mar sits on the Tamarindo coast, with tropical gardens, a pool and a tile-roofed main building. It is a calm, green setting, and the wedding used it that way: a small day with room to breathe.

Jennifer and Todd chose it to exchange their vows. The details came from the place itself: wooden benches, greenery, warm tones and the sea.

Todd, in rust

Todd got ready among the plants of the garden and wore a rust-colored suit, which gave the whole wedding its warm, earthy palette.

A ceremony with the sea in front

The ceremony was set on the sand with the sea stretching out in front of the guests, like a natural altar. A simple wooden arch dressed in greenery and orange flowers stood at the water’s end of the aisle, with wooden benches on both sides and a large tree overhead.

Two riders on horseback passed along the water behind the setup, one of those small details you cannot plan. The couple were the focus of the day, and the energy they brought to it made everyone around them smile.

Sunset portraits on the rocks

The sky did the rest. Orange, pink and purple settled over the water, and we took the couple down to the rocks at the water’s edge for portraits in that light.

We photographed laughter, stolen glances and the two of them completely at ease.

Dinner under the trees, then music and dancing

Dinner was set on the sand: long wooden tables beneath the branches of a large tree, with string lights between the palms and thatched palapas behind. Guests toasted the newlyweds and gave heartfelt speeches.

A playlist had everyone singing along and moving on the dance floor, and friends let loose as the night went on.
